Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Office Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office by managing administrative tasks, supporting staff, and maintaining efficient office procedures. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a strong focus on customer service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working to targets, managing their own workload, and building new connections to support business growth. They must thrive under pressure and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
While not essential, previous experience in the construction or trade industry would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-level administrative tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage and prioritise workload independently to meet deadlines and targets.
- Provide excellent customer service, acting as a key point of contact for clients and colleagues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
- Coordinate the set-up and organisation of new projects, including scheduling and booking scaffolding, ordering materials, and arranging client appointments.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure jobs are set up efficiently and run smoothly.
- Answer phone calls professionally, demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Utilise systems for document creation, scheduling, and collaboration with team members.
- Manage social media platforms, creating engaging posts and content to promote the business, as well as handling online advertising to increase brand visibility.
- Maintain an organised filing system for both physical and electronic documents, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
- Manage clerical duties such as sorting mail, ordering office supplies, and coordinating office maintenance.
- Support administrative functions by preparing reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.
- Collaborate with various departments to facilitate communication and workflow within the office.

What you'll learn
Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to:
- write letters or emails,
- create proposals,
- perform financial processes,
- record and analyse data.
Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages.
Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem.
Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
Produces accurate records and documents including:
- emails,
- letters,
- files,
- payments,
- reports and proposals.
Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management.
Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work.
Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures.
Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
Exercises proactivity and good judgement.
Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way.

Training schedule
As part of their Apprenticeship, the successful candidate will complete off-the-job training, dedicated learning that takes place during paid working hours and focuses on developing the skills and knowledge needed for the role. This includes structured activities such as workshops, online learning, shadowing, and practical training, ensuring they gain the full competence required to excel in the position while contributing effectively to the organisation.

Roofing is a trade that has been in our family for three generations. Two Hammers is now a father and son run business that has 30+ years of experience which will undoubtedly keep being passed down.
