About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking, outgoing and reliable apprentice to join our central team located in Shoeburyness, as a business administrator. We are heating specialists, providing emergency assistance throughout the UK. You will support all areas of the business, whilst working towards a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification.

What You'll Do

Working with us as a Business Administration Apprentice, you will play a key role by contributing to helping maintain high standards for our clients and help grow the business. We strive to provide our clients with the highest standard of customer service, and you will be our "ambassador", delivering a friendly and approachable experience, whilst working closely with our customers and colleagues.

The role will include various administrative duties with the aim of developing and having more responsibility during your apprenticeship. The role will include some of the following areas:

  • General administrative duties, including typing correspondence by e-mail and letter
  • To undertake filing, record keeping, photocopying and distribution of relevant documents
  • Support to other members of the team as and when required
  • Using Microsoft Packages, in particular, Word and Excel
  • To deal courteously and efficiently with all visitors
  • Answering the telephone in a professional manner and dealing with enquiries
  • Inputting data onto internal systems with a high level of accuracy
  • Dealing with requests for information
  • Ensuring that the policies of the company are observed and that good practice is encouraged, particularly in the areas of Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Confidentiality.

Course Contents

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.

Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Applies problem-solving skills to resolve challenging or complex complaints and is a key point of contact for addressing issues.

Takes responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, manages priorities and time in order to successfully meet deadlines. Positively manages the expectations of colleagues at all levels and sets a positive example for others in the workplace. Makes suggestions for improvements to working practice, showing understanding of implications beyond the immediate environment (e.g. impact on clients, suppliers, other parts of the organisation). Manages resources e.g. equipment or facilities. Organises meetings and events, takes minutes during meetings and creates action logs as appropriate. Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report. Plans required resources to successfully deliver projects. Undertakes and leads projects as and when required.

Training Schedule

As a business administration apprentice, you will complete the following qualifications as part of your apprenticeship:

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 2 Functional Skills, maths and English if required

You will also develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within an office environment.

This apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace, and 20% of your working time will be dedicated towards training and learning new skills.

You will be allocated a tutor who will provide you with personal support and assessment at pre-arranged times.

Assessment is through a variety of methods, including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence and professional discussions.

All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio.

Essential Qualifications

GCSE in:

  • maths & English (grade 4/C or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other Requirements

Please check if you are able to travel to the location on a daily basis. We are located a 10-minute walk from Shoeburyness Train Station in Southend-on-Sea. This position could close early if the right applicant is found, so apply early.
