Job Description: Finance and Accounts Intern

We seek a driven individual aiming for a career in finance and accounts, with basic knowledge of accounting principles. The intern will assist with cashbooks, VAT returns, payroll, financial reports, bookkeeping software, and admin tasks. No experience needed - just a strong willingness to learn.

What You'll Do at Work

  • Preparation of cashbooks
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Sales and purchase ledgers
  • Dealing with external accountant(s)
  • Inter-company reconciliations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Bookkeeping and payroll
  • General assistance with other routine accounts tasks if required
  • Liaise with internal team members, suppliers, and customers to ensure all correct information has been inputted

Training Course

Business administrator (level 3)

What You'll Learn

  • Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data.
  • Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports, and proposals.
  • Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing, or on digital platforms.
  • Completes tasks to a high standard. Demonstrates the necessary level of expertise required to complete tasks and applies themselves to continuously improve their work.
  • Takes responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, manages priorities and time in order to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor, and report.

Desirable Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • 5 GCSEs (grade A*-C)
    • Maths (grade 7)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
