Business Adviser - Business Direct Telephony Team
If you have a passion for delivering fantastic customer service and helping customers with all their business banking needs, this might be the role for you!
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to provide a best-in-class, tailor-made experience to our small business customers. But don’t worry, we will coach, support, and encourage you to develop the skills you need.
This role works on a rotational shift basis between the hours of 8am – 8pm. The first three weeks of training will be held in person, on site, on a Monday to Friday 9 to 5 schedule.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Glasgow or Northampton office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
Virgin Money is now part of Nationwide
Nationwide acquired Virgin Money in October 2024. Virgin Money continues to serve customers on the high street, and there will be a phased and considered integration over the coming years.
You’ll be employed by Nationwide from day one, delivering real impact and benefitting from a highly competitive range of benefits. We’re a workplace where you’re rewarded, recognised, and celebrated.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
As the first point of contact for both prospective and existing customers, you'll deliver an outstanding customer experience by providing a professional, friendly, and personable service at every interaction. You'll take ownership of customer queries and requests, ensuring they are resolved efficiently and effectively.
Through meaningful conversations, you'll build an understanding of customers' needs and introduce the products and services best suited to help them achieve their goals. You'll also play an important role in supporting the team's wider business objectives, including helping customers make the most of our digital services and solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
