Twenty-Nine Palms Entertainment is an agile, early-phase production outfit dedicated to developing, producing, and acquiring high-caliber film and television content. As we scale our slate, we are seeking an experienced Business & Legal Affairs executive on a flexible, per-project basis to provide strategic legal guidance and handle key deal-making functions.
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Business Affairs Executive based in London to support our occasional legal and business affairs requirements. This is a fractional, part-time, or per-project role ideal for an experienced consultant or former studio executive seeking flexible engagements.
You will serve as our primary legal advisor across key project milestones—ensuring commercial terms are structured effectively, risk is mitigated, and deals are closed efficiently to support our growth phase.

- Deal Structuring & Negotiation: Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex entertainment contracts, including:
- Production Agreements: Option/purchase deals, writer/director/talent agreements, crew/vendor contracts, and co-production structures.
- Financing Agreements: Debt/equity financing, pre-sales, gap financing, tax credit structures, and completion bond documentation.
- Distribution & Sales Agreements: Territory sales, domestic/international licensing, platform streaming rights, and revenue waterfall structuring.
- Acquisitions Agreements: Rights acquisitions, chain-of-title verification, and underlying IP clearances.
- Risk Management & General Counsel: Provide pragmatic, cost-conscious advice on copyright, clearance issues, chain of title, insurance (E&O), and general commercial risk.
- Slate Support: Advise on project packaging and development deal structures tailored to an independent, early-stage company budget.
Candidate Profile
- Studio / Major Indie Background: Demonstrated experience working within a studio, major broadcaster, streamer, or premier film/TV legal practice.
- Core Contract Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience negotiating film and television production, financing, distribution, and acquisition deals in the UK and internationally.
- Commercial Realism: A practical, solution-oriented approach tailored to early-phase production companies—balancing rigorous legal protection with commercial deal-making.
- Location: London-based (or strong UK network/presence) with deep knowledge of UK legal standards, guild/union regulations, and international co-production frameworks.
- Self-Directed: Ability to work autonomously on an on-demand, project-by-project basis with fast turnaround times.

Engagement Details
- Format: Freelance / Fractional / Retainer per project.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly or project-based day rate, structured to suit an early-phase independent company budget.
