At Zempler Bank, we’re building something exciting and payments sits right at the heart of it. As we continue to evolve our product and customer experience, we’re looking for an experienced Payments Business Analyst to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) and help shape the next phase of our journey.
This is a brilliant opportunity to step into a high-impact role, working closely with our product owners to deliver key initiatives across our payments landscape. We’re open to candidates based in either London or Liverpool.
The Role
You’ll act as the bridge between business and technology, translating complex ideas into clear, actionable requirements that our engineering teams can deliver.
A core focus will be on domestic and international payments, giving you exposure to meaningful, business-critical work from day one. Payments and Swift exposure is essential.
What you’ll be doing

- Gather, shape and communicate business requirements across the payments workstream (and beyond where needed)
- Translate complex needs into practical, deliverable solutions
- Produce clear business, functional and non-functional requirements
- Create and manage user stories in Jira, working closely with the Product Owner
- Lead refinement sessions to ensure engineers feel confident and ready to build
- Assess, log and score incoming requests to support prioritisation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
