Business Analyst

Iceland's IT Department is looking for a driven Business Analyst who can effectively liaise across IT and business departments in the coordination and gathering of requirements.

Purpose of Role

The role of a Business Analyst (BA) includes identifying Iceland’s Objectives and problems, understanding business requirements from the relevant departments and stakeholders, offering unique and feasible solutions to problems, providing feedback on implementation, and gauging functional and non-functional requirements. A BA also conducts research, data analysis, testing, and documentation to support the delivery of business solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Gathering, producing, and analysing the business requirements from the stakeholders
  • Translating the business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications for the technical teams
  • Creating and maintaining various documents, such as business cases, user stories, use cases, wireframes, data models, and test cases
  • Validating and verifying the solutions against the requirements and ensuring they meet the quality standards
  • Assisting in the communication and relationship between the business and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conducting user acceptance testing and providing feedback and support to the users
  • Evaluating the outcomes and benefits of the solutions and providing recommendations for improvement

KPIs

  • Manage and keep up-to-date individual project documentation to include the following, if applicable:
    • Detailed business requirements
    • Turning business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications
    • Assisting internal teams/departments when gathering their requirements, understanding the business process
    • Periodic reporting for the IT leadership team
    • Relevant project documentation and user guides
    • Adherence to the agreed/approved project
      • Timescale
      • Deliverables

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience

  • No minimum qualifications are required, although formal qualifications would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps would be an advantage
  • An ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with different audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • An ability to analyse complex problems and data and provide logical and creative solutions
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • An ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy
  • A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to an ever-changing environment
