Job Title
AgileSource are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support complex digital transformation and change programmes, working closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
Contract
- Inside IR35
- Fully Remote
- £400.00 P.D Umbrella
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding business problems, exploring user and organisational needs, defining requirements and helping shape practical solutions. You will operate across the boundaries of business analysis, service design, policy and digital delivery, translating complex strategic objectives into clear outcomes for delivery teams.
This role would suit someone who has worked within consultancy, professional services or public sector transformation, particularly across UK government or similarly complex organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis activities across complex digital transformation and change initiatives.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs, problems, processes, objectives and desired outcomes.
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews to gather information and build consensus.
- Conduct structured analysis to assess current-state services, processes and operating models, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process models and supporting documentation as appropriate.
- Undertake options analysis and feasibility assessments to support informed decision-making.
- Work closely with User Researchers, Service Designers, Product Managers, Delivery Managers, technical specialists and other members of multidisciplinary teams.
- Support early-stage Discovery and Alpha activities, helping teams understand the problem space before moving into solution delivery.
- Analyse complex information from multiple sources and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions constructively and helping establish a shared understanding of priorities.
- Support the development of strategic recommendations, business cases and transformation roadmaps.
- Ensure that user needs remain central to business and service decisions, particularly where programmes involve policy or public-facing services.
- Plan and manage individual analysis activities against programme milestones and delivery deadlines.
- Provide leadership within the analysis function, including supporting or mentoring less experienced analysts where required.

Essential Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong Business Analysis experience gained within a consultancy, professional services, government or complex transformation environment.
- Experience delivering analysis within digital transformation programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working directly with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Experience working as part of Agile multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong workshop facilitation, requirements elicitation and stakeholder interviewing capabilities.
- Experience breaking down ambiguous or complex business problems into clearly defined requirements and achievable outcomes.
- Knowledge of established Business Analysis techniques such as:
- Requirements elicitation and management
- Process mapping
- AS-IS/TO-BE analysis
- Gap analysis
- Options analysis
- User stories and acceptance criteria
- Stakeholder analysis
- Business process improvement
- Ability to work effectively alongside UCD and digital delivery professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate evidence and make structured recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within challenging timescales.
- Experience taking ownership of workstreams and providing direction to other team members.

Highly Desirable
- Previous experience working within UK Central Government, wider public sector or government-facing consultancy engagements.
- Understanding of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and Service Standard expectations.
- Experience working across the Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live stages of digital service delivery.
- Experience contributing to user-centred service or policy design.
- Understanding of how organisational strategy, policy, user needs and digital services interact.
- Experience undertaking research or analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Consultancy experience involving multiple client engagements or complex stakeholder environments.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications such as BCS Business Analysis qualifications would be beneficial.
