Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to use your expertise beyond traditional practice?

We’re looking for a Subject Matter Expert – Finance, Accounts Preparation & Company Administration / Business Analyst to join our Product team at IRIS.

This is an opportunity to use your accounting knowledge to help shape and develop software solutions used by accountancy professionals. You’ll work closely with our Product Management and Engineering teams, interpreting legislative and regulatory changes and helping ensure our Bookkeeping, Accounts Production and Company Secretarial solutions remain compliant, efficient and market-leading.

What will you be doing?

As a Subject Matter Expert, you’ll act as a key source of accounting and compliance expertise within our Product team.

You’ll

  • Provide statutory accounts expertise across our Bookkeeping, Accounts Preparation and Company Administration teams
  • Keep up to date with upcoming legislative and regulatory changes affecting our products and customers
  • Research and analyse changes in legislation and compliance, identifying how these could impact our software
  • Translate your expertise into clear user story acceptance criteria for both existing and new products
  • Utilise the latest AI advancements within your work
  • Produce supporting documentation for both internal teams and customers
  • Provide expert product testing within your specialist areas
  • Investigate and respond to complex Tier 3 customer queries
  • Identify and escalate product issues and suggest improvements
  • Work collaboratively with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, Product Management and Customer Support

What are we looking for?

You’ll bring strong practical accounting knowledge, particularly across bookkeeping and accounts preparation.

We’re Looking For Experience And Knowledge Including

  • Strong general bookkeeping knowledge
  • VAT, including EC Sales Lists, VAT MOSS and CIS
  • Preparation of annual financial statements for different entities, including limited companies, partnerships, groups and charities
  • Understanding of the legal requirements surrounding different business types
  • Statutory requirements for submitting documents to Government
  • Companies Act requirements relating to annual accounts
  • UK Financial Reporting Standards, SORPs and accounting body recommendations
  • IFRS / IAS international accounting standards

Company Administration Knowledge

You’ll also have a good understanding of company administration, including:

  • Company incorporations, including Memorandum & Articles
  • Statutory books and registers
  • Meeting minutes
  • Documents required to be submitted to Companies House
  • Company shares terminology

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • ACCA, ICAEW, ATT, AAT or an equivalent accounting qualification
  • Experience using software packages for bookkeeping, final accounts preparation and company administration
  • Previous experience using IRIS Accountancy Solutions products
  • A good understanding of accountancy practice processes
  • Experience carrying out research as part of a team
  • Practical experience using AI
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
