Data Business Analyst – Market Data, Real-time, Data Taxonomy, Service Health, Observability, Customer Insight, Financial Services – London – Contract – Up to £700/day (to umbrella company) Inside IR35

My client, a leading global market data and financial technology organisation, is looking for a Real-Time Business Analyst in London on an initial contract to December 2026, with extension likely.

The technical capability already exists across a globally distributed real-time data estate, it is missing the layer that turns it into something the business and its customers can actually see and understand. You will sit between the engineering teams who know how the platform behaves and the customers, support teams and leadership who need that expressed in terms of service, quality and impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will be responsible for gathering requirements and working them forwards into what the observability platform needs to measure, and backwards into what any of it means for the customer base. A large part of the value is in framing - understanding how clients use this data, where they sit in the market, and why a given gap in visibility matters to them commercially. They are in need of someone who is able to engage across the wider organisation but also help with the day to day work management.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven business analysis experience within Financial Services
  • Exposure to market data - feeds, distribution, real-time or low-latency environments.
  • The translation skill above all else: taking something technical and complex and making it land with people who do not live in the detail
  • Experience in helping to build or shape a data taxonomy
  • Comfort working across a globally distributed estate
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Experience of service insight or customer-facing service health portals, or of feeding operational data into internal AI platforms, would be beneficial
