Business Analyst – Post-Award Services Transformation
Location: London / Hybrid – Bidborough House
Contract: 3–6 months, with potential extension
Rate: £450–£500 per day Umbrella
Working pattern: 1 day per week onsite (Wednesday), occasionally 2 days depending on business needs
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support UCL’s Strategic Change, Research & Innovation Operations team on a Post-Award Services Transformation programme.
The role will focus on analysing and improving research administration and post-award processes, working across Finance, IT, Research and Innovation Services and wider institutional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and document end-to-end as-is business processes.
- Identify process pain points, inefficiencies, risks, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop to-be processes and target operating models.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews and workshops.
- Elicit, document and validate business requirements.
- Develop solution options and recommendations.
- Analyse processes involving finance, research funding, partner payments, staff costs and supplier invoices.
- Support requirements for digital timesheets and management information dashboards.
- Analyse data, systems, workflows and business processes.
- Support the development of a multi-year transformation business case and service redesign.
- Work closely with Finance, Research & Innovation Services, Product, Strategic Change and delivery teams.
- Communicate complex business and process concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Essential Experience
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within a project environment delivering IT-enabled change.
- Experience across different phases of the project delivery lifecycle.
- Strong experience in requirements elicitation and documentation.
- Strong business process modelling and process transformation experience.
- Experience with workflow, scenario or use-case modelling.
- Experience conducting stakeholder interviews and facilitating workshops.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to time-critical deadlines.
- Experience analysing complex business problems and developing practical improvement options.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt analysis and communication approaches to different audiences.

What We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong financial process transformation and business process improvement experience, alongside excellent stakeholder management skills.
Candidates should be socially intelligent and comfortable adapting their communication style when working with different stakeholder groups.
Interviews are expected to take place next week.
Please note: the rate is £450–£500 per day Umbrella and there is no flexibility on rate.
