Business Analyst, Media Technology (Contract)
Hybrid London
1-2 days per week
Duration: 4 months, potential to extend
Rate: £450 - £500 p/day Inside IR35
A major media and entertainment business is reviewing how it delivers post production and media asset management, with a focus on cloud-based workflows and AI tooling. They're looking for an experienced contract Business Analyst to join the programme and help shape proofs of concept, pilots, toolsets and future target operating models.
You'll lead user-focused analysis of the current post production and media asset landscape, then work with Product Managers, architects, engineers, and production colleagues to help define the future direction, grounded in solid evidence and clear insight.
This is a fast-moving engagement. Given the timescales, they need someone who can be pointed in a direction and trusted to ask the right questions, work independently, and return clear, structured output, with no ramp-up time needed on the domain.

- Understanding current business processes, structures, and tooling, validating assumptions with users, and identifying pain points and opportunities
- Documenting findings through standard analysis deliverables (process modelling, stakeholder matrices, data flow models)
- Defining and prioritising detailed functional and non-functional requirements
- Defining acceptance criteria and overseeing test processes to ensure delivered functionality meets user requirements
- Undertaking gap analysis to identify training needs and support user readiness
- Capturing and prioritising backlogs of ongoing change alongside Product Managers and project teams
- Building trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business, up to senior management
- Identifying and sizing efficiencies across the wider production business
- Collaborating with the project team to draft target operating models for future delivery, validating assumptions and technologies from a functional and cost perspective
What You'll Need

- At least 3 years' experience in Business Analysis or a related field (product, delivery)
- Experience working in a media production or post production environment
- Familiarity with media asset management, post production processes, video/audio transfer, transcode, delivery, and archiving
- Strong analytical skills across business process, data, and financial analysis
- Confidence eliciting requirements through workshops and stakeholder interviews
- Ability to turn ambiguity and complex data into clear, actionable requirements
- Skilled in writing testable user stories (Gherkin) and using prioritisation frameworks (MoSCoW, RICE, WSJF) to build consensus
- Understanding of agile methodologies
- Strong written and presentation skills, comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
