We’re hiring for a Business Analyst to support our growing Technology team!

To keep up with our growth in the UK and Ireland, we’re looking for a dedicated Business Analyst to serve as the functional expert within NFP’s technology team, working closely with business stakeholders to understand needs, shape requirements and support effective delivery. They will provide analytical support from the inception of each project, helping to shape the case, define business requirements and translate business needs into Business Requirement Specifications or user stories to support the development or modification of internally developed business systems.

The Business Analyst will maintain awareness of the regulatory, operational, and data protection obligations for financial services companies in the UK and Ireland. This includes ensuring that business requirements, process changes and system improvements consider customer outcomes, conduct risk, data protection, auditability, business continuity and appropriate controls. They will also support business readiness, adoption and post-implementation review to ensure delivered change achieves the intended business value.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the confidence to take ownership and work independently
  • A strong customer focus, including ability to think in terms of customer experience
  • A methodical and creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in explaining technical details in everyday terms to senior leaders and business partners within NFP
  • The ability to define acceptance criteria in a way that is concise and understandable to the delivery team
  • The skill to work independently and within a team to achieve objectives for the project
  • Strong business insight, technical understanding, leadership capability and communication skills
  • A solid understanding of business process mapping, data flows, controls and operational risk
  • Experience with user stories, acceptance criteria, test planning and user acceptance testing
  • Experience supporting system integrations, data migration and third-party platform implementations
  • Clear communication, working with our operational teams, developers, compliance, risk and external vendors
  • Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Visio, SQL, Power BI, ServiceNow, Teams and Microsoft 365
  • An awareness of GDPR, FCA expectations, Consumer Duty, operational resilience and Central Bank of Ireland requirements
  • An ability to assess business value, prioritise contending demands and challenge requirements constructively

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in appropriate field of study
  • Experience in a software development environment
  • Demonstrable experience with use case diagrams and process flow creation
  • Experience handling multiple projects and demands with various priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in product support in a professional setting strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working within the Insurance industry with systems such as Acturis and Open GI is desirable

Responsibilities:

Using these skills, you’ll be:

  • Understanding business initiatives, strategic plans and platform architecture to support and influence project execution
  • Assisting with defining project scope and collaborate with project partners to detail clear business requirements
  • Evaluating how system changes may affect other projects, workflows, data, controls and reporting
  • Working with the business, technology teams and implementation partners to optimises, enhance and align processes across platforms
  • Supporting product, integration, upgrade and sprint delivery activities
  • Ensuring the as-is and to-be process flows for the team have been established and documented
  • Facilitating discussions to elicit functional and technical requirements from collaborators
  • Supporting/performing backlog refinement/grooming sessions, sprint planning and other agile delivery scrum meetings
  • Engaging with business users at different levels to understand business needs, analyse and document business needs and their requirements
  • Understanding and explain system features, benefits and limitations in the context of the business
  • Working with developers to refine requirements, taking into consideration technical constraints, dependencies and delivery considerations
  • Acting as the authority to clarify developer queries during the development phase and provide ongoing support to the business collaborators
  • Creating release notes in coordination with the development team
  • Influencing business process improvements and contribute to the product roadmap
  • Understanding and incorporating regulatory, compliance, data protection and audit requirements into business analysis activities, ensuring solutions are appropriate for a UK and Ireland financial services environment
  • Analysing data flows, data dependencies and reporting impacts across business systems, supporting data migration, reconciliation, validation and data quality improvement activities
  • Identifying operational risks, control gaps and manual workarounds within current processes, and work with stakeholders to design improved processes with clear ownership, controls and governance
  • Working optimally with stakeholders across the UK, Ireland and global technology teams, balancing local business requirements with wider platform strategy and delivery priorities
  • Working with third-party software providers, integration partners and internal technology teams to define requirements, assess change impacts, support testing and lead delivery through to implementation
  • Defining acceptance criteria, test scenarios and user acceptance testing plans, supporting defect triage and ensuring business readiness ahead of release
  • Supporting business readiness and adoption through user guidance, training input, communications, release notes and post-implementation benefit reviews
  • Supporting product owners by shaping, prioritising and refining the backlog, ensuring user stories are clear, valuable, testable and aligned to business outcomes
  • Proactively find opportunities to simplify, automate or redesign business processes, including the proper use of workflow, reporting and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and user experience
