WHAT IS ON OFFER
Due to exciting global growth and significant investment across our business, Alfred H Knight is hiring an experienced data-focused IT Business Analyst to join our Technology Delivery team at our global head office in Prescot (Pegasus House). This position is based on-site at our head office in Prescot (3 days per week) with the option to work from home for up to 2 days per week.
We are currently embarking on an ambitious digital transformation journey, putting data right at the heart of how we operate globally. In this role, you won't just be documenting processes—you’ll act as a key strategic bridge between our global business operations, BI teams, and IT transformation leaders. Working closely with data engineers, BI developers, solution architects, and business SMEs across 50+ countries, you will own the end-to-end requirement journey for our enterprise data platforms, BI reporting systems, and data warehousing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation & Workshops: Facilitate engaging workshops and interviews with senior stakeholders to identify business opportunities, define project scope, and capture functional, non-functional, and technical requirements.
- Agile User Stories & Backlog Refinement: Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases, keeping product backlogs refined and ready for sprint execution.
- Process & Data Modelling: Analyse as-is versus to-be processes using BPMN and UML, conducting thorough gap analyses and data modelling to recommend high-value business improvements.
- Solution Evaluation & UAT: Partner with architects and development teams to evaluate software solutions, write comprehensive UAT test scripts, and lead user acceptance testing with global business teams.
- Global Pre-Initiation Support: Assist business leads in building robust business cases and feasibility studies for new technology initiatives.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Proven, practical experience operating as a Business Analyst delivering Business Intelligence (BI), analytics, data warehouse, or wider data platform projects.
- Exceptional requirements gathering skills, with demonstrated capability in defining KPIs, business rules, data definitions, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to understand, model, and document end-to-end data flows, source-to-target mapping, transformations, and system dependencies.
- Strong experience collaborating directly with data engineers, BI developers, solution architects, and business SMEs. Good understanding of data quality principles, data validation, reconciliation processes, and writing technical acceptance criteria.
- Outstanding workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills, particularly when navigating ambiguous, unclear, or conflicting data definitions.
- Experience working across both Agile and Waterfall project environments.

Required Competencies
- Evidence-based analytical mindset with an obsessive eye for data accuracy and problem-solving.
- High level of self-motivation, organisation, and the ability to manage priorities across multiple active data initiatives.
- Passion for continuous learning, innovation, and driving positive data-led organizational change.
Required Work Experience
- Experience using modelling tools and BA platforms (e.g. Jira, Asana, Lucidchart, MS Visio, Google Workspace).
- Prior exposure to LIMS, ERP, or enterprise reporting platforms is highly desirable.
- Sector experience within Metals & Minerals, Mining, Energy, Scientific, or Supply Chain environments is advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Business Analysis (such as BCS certification) or equivalent practical experience.
- Exposure to modern data tooling such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, or SQL is advantageous.
