About The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Housing Officer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties, ensuring high standards of tenancy management, and providing excellent customer service to our residents. This role involves working closely with tenants, community partners, and internal teams to address housing needs, resolve issues, and promote sustainable living. The Housing Officer will play a vital role in maintaining positive relationships within the community, supporting tenants through various stages of their tenancy, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a genuine commitment to community development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a relevant qualification in housing, social work, or a related field. Previous experience in housing management or a similar role is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. Knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy agreements, and safeguarding procedures is required. The candidate should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are preferred, as the role may require travel within the community.

Responsibilities
- Manage a designated portfolio of tenancy agreements, ensuring compliance with all legal and organizational policies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with tenants, addressing their concerns and providing guidance on tenancy rights and responsibilities.
- Conduct property inspections, risk assessments, and allocate repairs or maintenance as needed.
- Support tenants in accessing additional services such as debt advice, employment support, and community programs.
- Promote community engagement initiatives to foster a sense of belonging and social cohesion among residents.
- Handle tenancy disputes, complaints, and eviction processes in accordance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of tenant interactions, property inspections, and case notes using the organization’s management systems.
- Collaborate with external agencies, local authorities, and community groups to deliver integrated support and development programs.
- Stay informed of changes in housing legislation and best practices, ensuring the organization remains compliant and up-to-date.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and community events to support organizational objectives and personal development.
