Technical Business Analyst (Techno-Functional)
Domain: Insurance / Reinsurance
Location: London, UK
Work Mode: Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week
Contract Duration: 6-12 Months
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst (Techno-Functional) with strong Insurance/Reinsurance domain knowledge and technical data analysis capabilities.
The ideal candidate will work closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and Data Engineering teams to understand business requirements, analyse source systems, and translate functional requirements into detailed data specifications.
The role requires expertise in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance, specialty reinsurance, SQL, source-to-target mapping (STTM), and data transformation logic.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Owners and business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into detailed user stories and functional specifications for development teams.
- Perform source system analysis, data mapping, and prepare Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents.
- Define transformation rules, business logic, and derived measures for data engineering teams.
- Work closely with Data Engineers to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of data specifications.
- Support data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
- Interpret data lineage, metadata, and underlying database structures.
- Understand conceptual data models and Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers).
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders, including external teams where required.
- Ensure requirements are clearly documented and aligned with business expectations.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Techno-Functional Business Analyst.
- Good understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance domains, particularly Specialty Insurance and Property & Casualty (P&C).
- Strong requirements gathering, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
- Experience creating user stories and functional specifications for development teams.
- Hands-on experience with source system analysis and data mapping.
- Strong knowledge of Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM), including transformation logic and derived measures.
- Good SQL and database knowledge for data analysis and STTM preparation.
- Experience working with Snowflake and/or legacy database systems.
- Ability to interpret data lineage, metadata, and conceptual data models.
- Understanding of Medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold).
- Ability to translate business/functional requirements into clear technical data specifications.

- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices.
