An exciting opportunity has arisen within our IT department to join an existing small team responsible for technical design and development of Business Systems applications primarily using our own java-based warehouse distribution system and Customer facing systems.
The ideal candidate will play a leading role in bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that business requirements are effectively translated into technical solutions. This individual will be proficient in driving projects through the entire software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through to release, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
More about the role:
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for Java-based applications. Translate business needs into functional specifications, system design documents, and user stories, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Project Management: Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from initiation to delivery, by defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements, ensuring successful project execution.
- Application Development: Leverage expertise to drive the development of software solutions. Collaborate with developers to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical implementation. Work with national and international IT team members to provide suitable technical or functional solutions where appropriate.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test plans, scenarios, and scripts to validate application functionality and performance. Work closely with QA teams to identify and resolve defects in a timely manner.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, technical specifications, user manuals, and release notes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment.
- Release Management: Facilitate the release process, including deployment planning, coordination with operations teams, and post-release support. Ensure smooth transitions between development, testing, and production environments.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors, effectively managing expectations and facilitating communication to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business analysis and IT. Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization to drive continuous improvement within the organization. Proactively advise senior management of any issues that may affect the profile of the department and/or put at risk its security.

GDP, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Responsibilities
- Complying with applicable company policies, procedures, work instructions and legal/regulatory requirements relevant to their role.
- Following the requirements of the company's Quality Management System (ISO 9001), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Completing all required training and maintaining the competence necessary to perform their role effectively.
- Maintaining accurate, complete and timely records and ensuring that required information is appropriately documented.
- Reporting deviations, incidents, non-conformances, environmental incidents and other concerns promptly to their manager or the appropriate responsible person.
- Supporting the effective operation and continual improvement of company processes.
- Taking appropriate action to prevent errors, product quality issues, environmental impacts and risks within their area of responsibility.
- Cooperating with internal and external audits and providing accurate information and evidence when requested.
- Understanding how their activities contribute to product quality, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, environmental performance and the achievement of company objectives.

About you:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) and/or project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst in a technical environment, with a focus on Java application development. In-depth knowledge of database concepts and experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Proficiency in requirements elicitation, documentation, and management using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, including command line navigation and basic scripting, is preferred for efficient troubleshooting and collaboration with development and operations teams. Familiarity and knowledge of development frameworks and methodologies such as Scrum and Agile, along with proficiency in version control systems like Git and platforms such as GitLab and Jira.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
