DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Business Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 6 month (until end of March 2027) contract based REMOTELY (occasional travel to Swindon - roughly once a month)

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the national funding agency investing in science and research in the UK.

UKRI invests £8 billion of taxpayers’ money each year into research and innovation and the people who make it happen. They work across a huge range of fields – from biodiversity conservation to quantum computing, and from space telescopes to innovative health care. They give everyone the opportunity to contribute and to benefit, bringing together people and organisations nationally and globally to create, develop and deploy new ideas and technologies.

Job Purpose

UKRI's Digital, Data, and Technology Directorate (DDaT) provides Programme, Project & Change Management and Business Analysis support, leading the design, implementation and embedding of change across UKRI to deliver its vision and realise its strategic objectives. The primary focus of our work is to lead and deliver business change, including the implementation of new corporate systems, operating environment and organisational structures and the development of strategies and processes. We also support research initiatives and activities.

Due to a growing workload, we are recruiting for a Business Analyst to bolster both capacity and capability within our Data Delivery Programme. We are looking for a Business Analyst who can understand and analyse user and business needs and work with other DDaT functions to derive technical solutions to business problems. Our projects employ waterfall, agile, and business process improvement techniques, and you will have the opportunity to work across a range of these.

Your focus is to ensure project outcomes align with both the service vision and the business strategy by contributing to the link between current and future business models and delivering to the business architecture. We expect our Business Analysts to act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose. You will facilitate collaboration and lead effective communication with all stakeholders to support design, build and delivery to meet the user needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
