Business Analyst – Commercial and Specialty Insurance
Location: London (Hybrid)

The Role
Capco is seeking a Business Analyst with strong Commercial and Specialty Insurance expertise to join our growing Insurance practice. This role focuses on business analysis, requirements engineering, and supporting the delivery of complex transformation programmes across the insurance value chain.
You will work closely with stakeholders across leading insurers in Property, Liability, Marine, Energy, and other Specialty lines to analyse business processes, define requirements, and support the design and implementation of target solutions. From early discovery and impact assessment through to delivery and benefits realisation, you will play a key role in enabling effective change across underwriting, claims, and policy administration functions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support business analysis activities across Commercial & Specialty Insurance transformation initiatives, from discovery through to implementation
- Elicit, analyse, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements using structured techniques
- Conduct current state analysis, including process mapping, gap analysis, and impact assessment across underwriting, claims, and policy administration
- Support the design of target operating models and future state processes aligned to business objectives
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to gather requirements and validate solutions
- Translate business needs into clear delivery artefacts, including user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria
- Support delivery activities including backlog management, testing, UAT coordination, and change impact assessment
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation, digital enablement, and operational efficiency improvements

What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience as a Business Analyst within Commercial or Specialty Insurance, including London Market or corporate insurance environments
- Knowledge of Specialty lines such as Property, Liability, Marine, or Energy
- Proven experience in requirements gathering, process modelling, and supporting business or technology transformation initiatives
- Ability to bridge business and technology stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable outputs
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
- Structured analytical thinking with experience using BA tools and techniques (e.g. BPMN, user stories, data analysis)
Bonus Points For
- Experience with insurance platforms such as Guidewire, Sequel, or legacy policy/claims systems
- Exposure to Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, or hybrid) and working within product-led environments
- Experience supporting post-merger integration, regulatory change, or ESG initiatives
- Professional certifications such as BCS Business Analysis, CBAP, PRINCE2, or Scrum-related qualifications
- Experience working in consulting or client-facing delivery roles
- Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, automation, or advanced data use cases
