Business Analyst / Data Analyst – Data Algorithms
Location: London, UK
Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)
Experience: 8+ Years
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst (BA) or a Data Analyst (DA) with strong analytical capabilities to join our Data Algorithms team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience gathering and translating business requirements into data-driven solutions, working closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and technical teams to support algorithm development, data modelling, and decision-making.
This role is ideal for:
- Business Analysts with 8+ years of BA experience, or
- Data Analysts with several years of Data Analytics experience supplemented by Business Analysis experience.
Experience within Banking or Financial Services is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
- Translate business problems into analytical and data-driven solutions.
- Support the design and enhancement of data algorithms and analytical models.
- Produce high-quality Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, and process flows.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects, and Technology teams to deliver data solutions.
- Create data mappings, business rules, and data dictionaries.
- Validate business requirements through workshops, walkthroughs, and stakeholder reviews.
- Support UAT planning, execution, and defect management.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Ensure solutions align with governance, data quality, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of Business Analysis experience, or equivalent combination of Data Analysis and Business Analysis.
- Strong experience in requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
- Experience working on Data Algorithms, analytics, or data-centric projects.
- Strong SQL skills for analysing and validating data.
- Experience with data mapping, data lineage, and data quality analysis.
- Ability to analyse large datasets and derive meaningful business insights.
- Experience creating process maps using BPMN, Visio, or similar tools.
- Strong documentation skills including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.

Preferred Skills
- Banking or Financial Services domain experience.
- Experience with Reference Data, Master Data, or Data Governance.
- Knowledge of data modelling concepts.
- Experience with Python, Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics tools.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience working alongside Data Science or Machine Learning teams.
- Understanding of regulatory reporting and data governance frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or IIBA certification is desirable.
- Agile Business Analysis or Scrum certification is an advantage.
