Senior Business Analyst – Energy Trading
Location: London (Hybrid) | Practice Area: Energy | Type: Permanent
Help shape the future of Energy Trading by delivering business and technology transformation across trading, risk, operations, and data functions.
2 Years Experience In Energy Essential
The Role
Capco is seeking experienced Senior Business Analysts to support strategic and operational change initiatives within leading Energy Trading organisations.
Working at the intersection of business, technology, and trading operations, you will partner with stakeholders across Front Office, Commercial Operations, Risk, Pricing, Settlements, Data, and Technology teams to deliver complex change programmes. This is a hands-on Business Analysis role, where you will lead requirements engineering activities, facilitate workshops, define business processes and operating models, and translate business needs into practical technology solutions. You will play a key role in helping clients optimise trading processes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance decision-making capabilities throughout the delivery lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
- Lead requirements engineering activities, eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting business requirements across business and technology stakeholders.
- Own workshop facilitation and stakeholder analysis, driving requirements gathering sessions and building consensus across business and technology teams.
- Produce high-quality BA artefacts including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, process models, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and data requirements.
- Define current and future-state operating models, supporting business process redesign, business readiness, process improvement, and organisational change activities.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, and QA teams within Agile (Azure DevOps) and hybrid delivery environments, supporting backlog management and prioritisation.
- Work hands-on throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle, ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements through delivery while supporting testing, UAT, implementation, and stakeholder decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
