Business Analyst – Digital Projects, Banking, London, Contract (Outside IR35)
A commercially minded, technically fluent Business Analyst, with a software development background, is required to help shape and deliver digital banking projects for a fast-moving challenger bank. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bridge the gap between business ambition and engineering execution — translating customer, operational, regulatory and product needs into clear, deliverable requirements for agile technology teams. It is important that you have enough technical knowledge to write technical specifications as well as functional specs, user stories etc. We are not looking for someone who just understands the SDLC, but someone who has lived and breathed it as an essential part of the engineering process.
The Role
- Work closely with Product Owners, engineers, architects, operations, risk, compliance and customer teams to define and deliver digital banking features.
- Translate business problems into user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, data flows, API requirements and functional specifications and technical specifications.
- Act as a credible partner to software engineering teams, bringing enough technical depth to challenge assumptions and clarify delivery options.
- Help ensure digital solutions are usable, secure, compliant and aligned to commercial outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
