Aligne Business Analyst (ETRM)
Location
LONDON, UK
Experience
8+ years of Business Analysis experience with at least 3+ years in ETRM/Commodity Trading platforms, preferably Aligne.
Role Overview
The Aligne Business Analyst acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, supporting enhancement, transformation, and operational initiatives within the Aligne platform. The role requires strong knowledge of energy trading processes, stakeholder management, business analysis practices, and solution design.
The BA will work closely with Trading, Risk, Operations, Settlements, Finance, Development, and Support teams to deliver business solutions that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform impact analysis for new initiatives, enhancements, and production issues.
- Define business solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and strategic objectives.
- Participate in solution design discussions and review proposed technical solutions.
Aligne Platform Expertise
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Aligne application.
- Provide consulting on Aligne functionality, configuration, reporting, and business processes.
- Support system configuration and process improvements to meet evolving business needs.
- Act as Design Authority for Aligne-related changes and enhancements.

Stakeholder Management
- Engage with business stakeholders globally across multiple regions and time zones.
- Lead workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and design discussions.
- Build trusted relationships with business and IT stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between business users, development teams, and vendors.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Create acceptance test plans and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Coordinate defect management and resolution activities.
- Ensure delivered solutions meet business expectations and quality standards.
- Design realistic business scenarios for validation and testing.
Process & Data Management
- Analyse business processes and data flows to identify optimization opportunities.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance requirements are met.
- Support business process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Produce high-quality documentation and maintain knowledge repositories.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Mentor junior Business Analysts.
- Contribute to best practices, standards, and training materials.
- Support Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify innovative solutions to improve business outcomes and operational efficiency.

- Strong Business Analysis experience.
- Expertise in Aligne ETRM platform.
- Knowledge of Energy Trading and Risk Management processes.
- Requirements elicitation and stakeholder management.

- Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Gas, Power, LNG, Environmental Products, or Commodities Trading.
- Knowledge of Risk Management, Settlements, Trade Lifecycle, and Market Operations.
- SQL and reporting experience.
- Experience working with global stakeholders.
- Understanding of cloud and integration architectures.

Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related discipline.
- Business Analysis certifications (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA) preferred.
- Energy Trading or ETRM domain certifications are advantageous.
