About The Role

Hippo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Business Analyst specializing in Identity to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will support our mission by leading complex business analysis initiatives focused on digital identity and access management. You will work at the intersection of strategy, design, and technology, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop bespoke solutions that address intricate client challenges. Your expertise will help shape service direction, manage high-level scope, and guide product development, ensuring the delivery of secure and scalable identity systems.

The ideal candidate will possess deep domain knowledge of identity and IAM frameworks, with a proven track record of working with senior stakeholders and technical teams. You will act as a trusted advisor, mediating conflicting priorities and translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will contribute to building and scaling Hippo’s internal Identity capabilities by mentoring junior analysts and fostering a community of practice. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving strategic analysis, shaping product roadmaps, and supporting business growth through bids and proposals.

This role requires a proactive, confident individual who can operate independently from day one, challenge assumptions, and deliver practical, impactful recommendations. You will also support internal capability development by sharing knowledge and best practices, ensuring Hippo remains at the forefront of identity consultancy. Flexibility to work across client sites and offices nationwide is essential, along with a willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Identity and IAM, including digital identity architectures and security methods
  • Deep knowledge of identity types such as customer, workforce, and non-human identities (including Agentic AI)
  • Proficiency with security standards and patterns like verification (GPG45), MFA, RBAC, ABAC, JML, IGA, SSO, Zero Trust
  • Hands-on experience with major identity platforms such as Okta, Ping, SailPoint, iProov, Entrust, OneLogin, and native cloud services (Microsoft Entra, AWS, Google)
  • Proven client and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on turning ambiguity into actionable recommendations
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with product, delivery, architecture, and engineering teams
  • Previous leadership experience in mentoring and coaching Business Analysts
  • Experience in developing practice standards, frameworks, or competency matrices within a consultancy environment
  • Desirable: Exposure to fraud prevention, Zero Trust architectures, and broader cybersecurity contexts

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic business analysis for Identity discovery, assessment, and delivery projects, helping clients define and achieve their desired outcomes
  • Guide product and service direction by managing scope, backlogs, strategic risks, and delivery approaches across complex accounts
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client executives, mediating conflicting priorities and providing clear, practical solutions
  • Support business growth through involvement in bids, proposals, RFP responses, and pre-build assessments requiring Identity expertise
  • Mentor, coach, and line-manage junior Business Analysts, fostering a community of practice within Hippo
  • Share knowledge and best practices internally to develop Hippo’s internal Identity capabilities and standards
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment on key outcomes and deliverables
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, security standards, and emerging technologies to inform project delivery and practice development
