Business / Data Analyst – Vice President (VP) Level
Location: Belfast (Hybrid)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: £47.51 per hour PAYE (Approx. £98,000 per annum equivalent)
About the Opportunity
An outstanding opportunity has opened for an experienced Business / Data Analyst (VP Level) to join a leading global investment bank's Global Markets Risk & Controls team in Belfast. In this role, you will lead data-driven workstreams for critical projects designed to build and enhance market abuse surveillance and broader regulatory controls.
You will join a fast-paced, highly skilled team of 20+ professionals locally and over 50 globally. This role offers daily interaction with former traders possessing over 200 years of combined Markets trading experience, alongside innovative technology partners building industry-leading risk controls.

- Data Gathering & Querying: Lead data requirements gathering for multiple risk and control projects, locating essential datasets and writing SQL queries for extraction.
- Documentation & Governance: Document datasets, filtering criteria, and associated business rationale clearly.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the SME for senior stakeholders and team members on datasets consumed by transaction monitoring controls.
- Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis for data-related issues and examine downstream impacts on end-users.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with business partners on findings and recommend practical improvements to current practices.
- Risk Management: Assess risk appropriately in all decisions, safeguarding the firm's assets, clients, and reputation through full regulatory compliance.
- Autonomous Execution: Exercise independent judgment and operate effectively with limited direct supervision.

What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 4–8 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst.
- Skills:
- Strong, demonstrated expertise in writing SQL (Essential).
- Knowledge of financial instruments and relevant data attributes, particularly bonds and derivatives (Highly Desirable).
- Consistently clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven organizational influencing skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Experience collaborating effectively across global, distributed teams.
- Ability to balance big-picture strategic thinking with meticulous attention to detail.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent professional experience.
