Business Analyst – Investment Banking (Data Governance & Reference Data)
Location: London, UK (Hybrid – 3 Days/Week)

Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Investment Banking to join a high-profile transformation programme in London. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Data Governance, Reference Data, and delivering change within complex regulatory environments. This role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to bridge business and technology teams to deliver strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and requirement elicitation sessions across business and technology teams.
- Produce Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive business analysis activities for Data Governance and Reference Data initiatives.
- Analyse current business processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.
- Work closely with Solution Architects, Developers, QA teams, and Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support data mapping, data lineage, metadata management, and data quality initiatives.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support defect resolution.
- Ensure solutions comply with regulatory and governance standards.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and communicate progress to senior stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- 8+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- Strong experience within Investment Banking.
- Proven experience in Data Governance and Reference Data programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and business process modelling experience.
- Experience working on regulatory change and transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and master/reference data management.
- Experience with SQL for data analysis and validation.
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working in Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Investment Banking Domain Experience
Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following:

- Trade Lifecycle

- Derivatives
- Regulatory Reporting

Regulatory Experience
Experience working within regulated financial environments, including exposure to:
- BCBS 239
- MiFID II
- EMIR
- Dodd-Frank
- Basel Regulations
- GDPR
- Data Governance Frameworks
Nice to Have
- Experience with Collibra, Informatica, or other Data Governance tools.
- Knowledge of data cataloguing and metadata management platforms.
- Understanding of cloud-based data platforms (AWS or Azure).
- Experience supporting enterprise data transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- CBAP, PMI-PBA, or BCS Business Analysis certification is desirable.
- Agile or Scrum certification is advantageous.
