HSBC Asset Management Alternatives is now seeking an experienced professional to join its team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract basis. The team is focused on building out a global operating model for its fast-growing platform, which includes private markets, hedge funds, real assets, infrastructure, and private debt.
The purpose of this role is to partner with stakeholders globally to design, document, and embed scalable operating models, controls, and third-party service arrangements. This will support new investment capabilities and strengthen existing operations.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support the design and set-up of operating models for new and evolving Alternatives capabilities across:
- Portfolio/fund structures
- Asset classes
- Countries and entities
- Help deliver changes to existing operating models to reflect new services, processes, controls, and regulatory expectations
- Contribute to a global operating framework, including:
- Complexity and risk assessments
- End-to-end documentation aligned with HSBC standards
- Drive end-to-end process mapping in collaboration with:
- Functional Architecture
- 1st Line of Defence Risk & Controls
- 2nd Line of Defence Ensuring appropriate review and assurance at each stage
- Assist with third-party provider engagement (e.g., fund administrators, loan services, transfer agents, custodians, cash management solutions), including:
- Initial set-up
- Ongoing service assessment
- Support inorganic initiatives and cross-border transactions by:
- Contributing to operational due diligence
- Integration planning
- Impact/cost assessment
- Risk and issues management
Requirements
To succeed in this role, the following criteria must be met:
- Essential:
- Experience in investment operations or middle office in asset management (or similar domains)
- Exposure to alternative investment products
- Strong project management, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to deliver accurately to deadlines
- Desirable:
- Experience with Real Assets or Private Credit operating models
- Understanding of fund structures
- Demonstrated capability in operational risk management within changing environments
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Experience working with outsourced service providers and assessing operational/technology solutions
- Commercially minded and client-centric ability
- Capacity to translate complex information into practical operational solutions
- Other key skills:
- Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with:
