Payroll SME / Payroll Business Analyst

Location: Remote (UK)
Contract Length: Initial 6 Months
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Start Date: ASAP

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll SME / Payroll Business Analyst to support a large-scale European payroll transformation programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation of Deel across multiple European countries, acting as the bridge between the implementation partner, internal HR teams, payroll stakeholders and local country representatives.

This is a hands-on business-facing role requiring extensive European payroll implementation experience, strong business analysis skills and the ability to drive workshops, process mapping, testing and deployment activities across a complex multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Payroll SME and Business Analyst across the European payroll transformation programme.
  • Work closely with Deel and internal stakeholders to support successful payroll implementation activities.
  • Facilitate workshops with HR, Payroll and local country teams to capture business requirements and validate solutions.
  • Complete and manage vendor implementation templates and documentation.
  • Analyse and document current and future state payroll processes.
  • Produce detailed process maps and gap analysis documentation.
  • Identify country-specific payroll requirements and ensure alignment with the global payroll model.
  • Support testing activities including UAT planning, execution and defect management.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and produce clear meeting outcomes, actions and recommendations.
  • Work with HR and Payroll teams to ensure readiness for deployment and adoption.
  • Manage risks, issues and dependencies throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Support change management, communication and training activities where required.

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Business Analyst, Payroll Consultant or Payroll SME.
  • Extensive experience implementing payroll solutions across Europe.
  • Strong understanding of multi-country payroll processes and statutory requirements.
  • Experience engaging with in-country payroll and HR teams across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrable experience facilitating workshops and gathering business requirements.
  • Strong process mapping and business process improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting testing, validation and payroll parallel run activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate independently within a fast-paced transformation programme.
