Insight Commodities is partnering with a global trading house to appoint a Business Analyst / Project Manager to support the rollout of a new Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) system in London.

About the role

This hybrid role is weighted approximately 60% towards business analysis and 40% towards project management. You will work closely with business users across Trading, Risk, Operations and Finance, under the direction of the group's IT and Digital Transformation team, alongside vendors and implementation partners, to deliver the rollout successfully and hand it over smoothly into business-as-usual support.

Key responsibilities

Requirements and process analysis

  • Understand current processes, pain points and business requirements
  • Document requirements clearly for review by IT, business users, vendors and implementation partners
  • Map workflows across trade capture, pricing, risk, operations, settlement, finance and reporting

Stakeholder coordination

  • Facilitate workshops and track decisions across internal teams, vendors and consultants
  • Help reconcile differing expectations and ways of working between teams
  • Track deliverables and outputs, flag gaps early, and check vendor outputs are ready for business review

  • Coordinate UAT scenarios, scripts, data, defect management, retesting and sign-off readiness
  • Support training, cutover planning, go-live preparation and hypercare
  • Ensure post-go-live issues are tracked, prioritised and handed over to BAU support

Data, reporting and controls

  • Support data migration validation, reporting requirements and operational control reviews
  • Help define reporting needs for trading, risk, operations, finance and management users

Documentation and training

  • Prepare process notes, user guides and training materials
  • Support user readiness and transition recurring issues into BAU support

Project planning and delivery

  • Maintain the project plan, milestones, action log and status updates
  • Follow up on open actions, decisions, risks and dependencies with the right owners
  • Prepare clear project updates and steering materials for management

Risk, issue and change management

  • Maintain a clear view of project risks, issues and scope changes
  • Escalate items requiring management decision
  • Find practical solutions when timelines, resources or requirements are under pressure

Essential requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, IT, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Business analysis and/or project management experience, ideally within commodity or energy trading, metals and minerals, financial services or trading system implementation
  • Strong understanding of the commodity trading lifecycle, with proven experience in requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, cutover, training and go-live support
  • Hands-on experience of CTRM / ETRM platforms through implementation, rollout or ongoing support
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with strong data analysis capability
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business, IT, vendors and senior management
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation across multiple workstreams
  • High accuracy, attention to detail and a practical approach to resolving complex issues, including working through ambiguity
  • Ability to work independently and calmly under pressure, knowing when to escalate
  • A proactive, flexible approach to problem solving and changing priorities

Desirable

  • SQL, Power BI or similar reporting tools
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification
  • CTRM implementation experience in metals, such as aluminum or copper
  • Experience in a multicultural environment

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
