Senior Business Analyst – Insurance

Location: London
Function: IT & Operations / Development
Reporting to: Development Manager

This job requires 3 days a week on-site in around the Manchester area and 2 days remote.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a leading specialist commercial insurance organisation and play a key role in the delivery of technology and business change initiatives.

This is a hands-on, technical Business Analyst position requiring strong experience across the full software development lifecycle. You will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, testers, and third-party vendors to understand business challenges, define requirements, and ensure technology solutions deliver genuine business value.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience within the London Market or commercial insurance sector, with exposure to insurance products, rating engines, policy administration platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse, and document complex business and technical requirements, translating them into clear specifications, epics, and user stories.
  • Act as the key link between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring requirements are understood and solutions are delivered effectively.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across areas such as Underwriting, Actuarial, and Finance.
  • Analyse existing processes and identify opportunities for digitisation, automation, and operational improvement.
  • Challenge proposed solutions to ensure they address genuine business problems and deliver measurable value.
  • Facilitate workshops and communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and senior business stakeholders.
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal development teams, QA teams, and third-party technology vendors.
  • Support Agile delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning, and the creation of high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate user involvement throughout the change lifecycle, from initial analysis through to UAT, implementation, and post-production support.
  • Create UAT test cases and support functional and user acceptance testing.
  • Demonstrate system changes to key stakeholders ahead of UAT.
  • Ensure new solutions transition successfully into the live environment with appropriate documentation and support processes.
  • Produce training materials and support users with the adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Proactively manage assigned risks, issues, priorities, and deliverables.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
