Overview
You will provide dedicated Business Analysis capability across the SAP Upgrade Programme, developing and consolidating the broader set of requirements needed to define programme scope, inform procurement and give Systems Integrators (SIs) and delivery teams a coherent basis for subsequent design and delivery.
The role will complement the existing SAP functional consultants. Its focus is not to duplicate functional requirements activity, but to work across functional, data and technical areas where requirements are currently distributed across multiple people, workstreams and sources of information.
Context
The programme has strong SAP functional consultancy capability focused on functional requirements. However, the overall requirement set also needs to cover reporting and information, data, data migration, integration, archiving and cross-functional problem areas. Subject-matter ownership exists across the programme and University, but there is limited capacity to review the existing material, identify gaps and pull these requirements into a consistent and usable whole.
Inputs will include existing functional requirements, workshop outputs, parking-lot items, known data quality issues, programme decisions and targeted requirements work still to be completed. The resulting requirement set must be sufficiently clear to steer SI scope and procurement, while recognising that appointed SIs will subsequently validate and elaborate requirements during delivery.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Review existing functional requirements and supporting material to identify data, reporting, migration, integration and cross-functional implications.
- Review workshop parking-lot items, known data issues, decisions and other programme material to identify requirements that have not yet been captured or are insufficiently defined.
- Work with functional, data, technical and business leads to elicit, challenge, structure and consolidate requirements across the programme.
- Plan and facilitate targeted conversations and workshops where material gaps need to be addressed.
- Develop reporting and information requirements, including distinguishing operational or single-source reporting needs from wider multi-source reporting and analytics requirements.
- Develop data migration requirements covering scope, history, business rules, transformation, reconciliation, validation and other migration considerations.
- Develop and consolidate data-specific requirements, including data quality, retention and archiving requirements.
- Identify cross-functional requirements and dependencies where processes, data or reporting needs span functional domains.
- Capture integration-related requirements and implications in collaboration with the relevant technical and functional specialists.
- Apply sensible industry and implementation good practice where requirements cannot yet be fully derived from existing material or direct stakeholder input.
- Maintain a coherent, traceable requirements baseline suitable for procurement and subsequent SI engagement.
- Highlight gaps, assumptions, dependencies and decisions that need resolution to support scope definition and delivery readiness.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Expected outputs
- A consolidated programme requirements baseline covering the relevant requirement types and cross-functional areas.
- Clear identification of requirement gaps, assumptions, dependencies and outstanding decisions.
- Requirements material suitable for SI scope definition and procurement inputs.
- Targeted reporting/information, data migration and data-specific requirement sets where additional detail is required.
- A traceable record of source material and stakeholder input sufficient to support later SI validation and elaboration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key milestones and timing
- October 2026 - RFI input: provide a sufficiently developed view of requirements and scope to inform the Phase 1 RFI, covering HR, expenses and procurement, with expenses and procurement target solution decisions still to be completed.
- January 2027 - RFP input: develop the requirement set to a greater level of detail to support meaningful SI proposals, scope definition and comparison of responses.
- The initial six-month engagement is intended to provide continuity across both procurement stages and establish a structured baseline that can transition into implementation.

This role is best suited to an experienced BA who is comfortable operating across business, data and technology boundaries.
