The Business Analyst serves as the critical link between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that business requirements are accurately captured, analyzed, documented, and translated into effective technology solutions. Within the Fibre Telecommunications industry, the Business Analyst drives process optimization, operational efficiency, digital transformation, and project success by leveraging data-driven insights and business process improvements.
The role is responsible for understanding end-to-end business processes across Fibre Network Operations, Service Delivery, Customer Experience, Sales, Billing, Provisioning, and Support functions, ensuring that technology solutions align with strategic business objectives and deliver measurable value.
As a Vumatel– Business Analyst you will be empowered to deliver the following:
Business Requirements Elicitation
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, surveys, focus groups, and observation sessions.
- Engage stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate business requirements.
- Identify business pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities.
- Define functional and non-functional requirements.
- Prioritize requirements based on business value and strategic objectives.
- Ensure alignment between business needs and technology capabilities.

User Story Development
- Create detailed and structured user stories.
- Define acceptance criteria for each user story.
- Support Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Ensure stories are testable, measurable, and traceable.
- Work closely with Product Owners and Development Teams.
Business Process Analysis & Process Mapping
- Analyse current ("As-Is") business processes.
- Design future-state ("To-Be") processes.
- Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and risks.
- Drive process optimisation initiatives.
- Facilitate stakeholder validation of process designs.
Documentation Management
- Responsible for creating and updating BRDs / Functional Specifications / Process maps / acceptance criteria
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops.
- Manage stakeholder expectations.
- Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies.
- Resolve conflicting requirements.
Quality Assurance & Governance
- Drive quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure requirements are complete, accurate, and traceable.
- Participate in solution reviews.
- Validate delivered solutions against requirements.
- Support testing and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
Systems Analysis
- Understand system architecture and integrations.
- Analyze application behaviour and data flows.
- Review APIs and system interfaces.
- Understand database structures.
- Investigate system issues and root causes.
- Collaborate with technical teams on solution design.
Data Analysis and Insights
- Analyze business and operational data.
- Identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support decision-making with data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure data quality and integrity.
- Define reporting requirements.
Requirements
What makes YOU our ideal candidate:
We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with the drive to excel in a demanding tech landscape.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems / Computer Science or equivalent; a relevant IT Diploma or higher will be considered
- Salesforce certification advantageous
- Experience in at least 1 large and multiple medium projects with full implementation cycle.
- Able to work on multiple projects at the same time, with all different teams
- Exposure to SAFe / scaled Agile delivery advantageous
- 5–8 years Business Analysis experience (within ICT, Telecommunications, or Fibre environments an advantage)
- Experience in Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Proven experience in process mapping and process optimization.
- Strong systems and data analysis experience.

Technical Knowledge & Skills
Business Analysis
Skills: Requirements management, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, and analysis techniques.
ICT & Fibre Industry Knowledge
Understanding of telecom concepts (FTTH, OSS/BSS) and operational processes like provisioning and billing. Good understanding of Enterprise IT environments.
Systems Knowledge
Experience with CRM, ERP, billing, workflow tools and platforms like Salesforce, SAP, Jira, etc.
Data & Technical Skills
SQL, data modelling, integrations (APIs), troubleshooting, and reporting tools like Power BI.
