The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is a renowned charitable organization dedicated to saving lives at sea. About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join RNLI as a Rescue Operations Coordinator. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for coordinating rescue operations, ensuring swift and effective response to emergency calls at sea and along the coast. Your expertise will be essential in managing rescue teams, liaising with emergency services, and overseeing the deployment of rescue resources. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a keen understanding of maritime safety procedures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in saving lives and supporting the organization’s mission of maritime safety.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a relevant background in maritime operations, emergency management, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in rescue coordination, maritime safety, or emergency response is preferred. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and strong problem-solving capabilities are essential. Candidates should hold relevant certifications such as STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers), first aid, and rescue training. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, are also required.

Responsibilities

As a Rescue Operations Coordinator, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating rescue missions
  • Ensuring rapid deployment of rescue teams and equipment
  • Maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders involved in emergency responses
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of rescue operations
  • Monitoring weather and sea conditions
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations
  • Maintaining detailed records of all rescue activities
  • Conducting post-operation reviews
  • Providing reports to senior management
  • Training and mentoring new team members
  • Fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization
