Job Description
Role: Business Analyst
District/Department: HR and Learning
Location: Carbrook
Salary: £38,169 – £43,668
Hours: 37
Contract Type: Permanent
As a Business Analyst within HR and Learning, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership, support, advocacy and vision to the force to forward plan the workforce and talent that is in line with South Yorkshire Police (SYP) strategic direction and core values.
You will conduct analysis at a strategic, tactical and/or operational level, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, patterns and trends, assess threat, risks and make recommendations in support of decision making, prioritisation and resource allocation.
You will provide expertise through the development and use of analytical products to assist decision making at a strategic, tactical and operational level.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce monthly KPI reports for the HR and Learning Leadership Team and develop the data to provide further metrics when required.
- Provide data and MI on large data dependant projects and potentially manage development projects within the team.
- Provide analysis on human capital reports to include management information on where the business is measuring and tracking against strategic objectives.
- Proactively suggest ways to improve HR processes for process optimisation and realise efficiencies.
- Working with all levels of stakeholders from across the business, to understand reporting and analytics requirements and consulting with them to help understand what is possible.
- Providing not just commentary, but in-depth analysis and insight about what the data and metrics is saying, to help managers and the senior management team make informed decisions.
- On-going review and improvement of reporting processes to standardise and align techniques across all reporting teams.
- Able to lead, develop and motivate, both within HR and Learning and across the organisation, showing passion, energy and commitment, creating strong engagement with HR and Learning’s priorities and with Force values and behaviours.
- Be a visible role model, consistently demonstrate professional principles and personal integrity.
- Set performance objectives, holding staff accountable for delivering these and taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the delivery of Strategic Workforce Planning priorities.
Skills And Experience
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop and produce meaningful reports from multiple streams of data.
- Ability to work within a high-volume, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
- Understanding of data and analytics with an ability to demonstrate to others its impact
- Skilled in engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, building relationships that are based on trust, working collaboratively and to improve the employee experience and align to the organisation’s values.
- Able to use a range of communication and influencing techniques and methods to successfully negotiate, collaborate and/or effect change
- Experience within a business analyst role
- Experience in mapping and documenting service management and business processes, including those that also cross into other areas.
- Experience of designing BI reports
- Degree level qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
- Previous experience of Oracle BI, or similar system

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
