Business Analytics

We are hiring on behalf of one of our clients for a Business Analytics opportunity in the UK. This role is suited to students, recent graduates, and professionals who are interested in using data to understand business performance, identify opportunities, and support better decision-making.

Position: Business Analytics Intern

Location: UK | Remote

Overview

As a Business Analytics Intern, you will work with business and operational data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and generate insights that support business decisions. You will contribute to analytical projects across areas such as sales, marketing, finance, customers, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize business data from databases, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and other sources.
  • Analyze business performance data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for business and operational teams.
  • Track key performance indicators and investigate significant changes in business metrics.
  • Use SQL to extract, filter, join, and analyze data from relevant databases.
  • Perform data cleaning and validation to improve the reliability of analytical outputs.
  • Analyze customer, sales, marketing, financial, and operational datasets based on business requirements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to answer specific business questions and support decision-making.
  • Develop charts, tables, and visual summaries to communicate analytical findings.
  • Support forecasting and planning activities using historical and current business data.
  • Compare business performance across products, regions, customer groups, or other relevant segments.
  • Identify patterns in customer behaviour and business activity that may support strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with evaluating business processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Automate suitable reporting and analytical tasks using SQL, Excel, Python, or other tools.
  • Document analytical methods, calculations, data sources, and reporting definitions.
  • Present key findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Understanding of business analytics and data analysis principles.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or another business intelligence platform.
  • Understanding of KPIs, business metrics, and performance analysis.
  • Ability to work with structured datasets and identify meaningful patterns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good attention to detail when reviewing data and analytical results.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to business and technical audiences.
  • Understanding of basic statistical and analytical concepts.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Python or R for business analysis and automation.
  • Experience with Pandas, NumPy, or similar analytical libraries.
  • Familiarity with Power BI DAX or Tableau calculations.
  • Understanding of descriptive statistics and forecasting techniques.
  • Exposure to CRM, ERP, or other business information systems.
  • Experience working with sales, marketing, finance, customer, or operational data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and dashboard design principles.
  • Understanding of ETL and data integration processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms or modern data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control tools.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required; additional European languages are an advantage.
