About the Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially aware and analytical individual to join one of our client organisations in the United Kingdom as a Business Analytics Intern. This opportunity is designed for students, recent graduates, and aspiring professionals interested in business intelligence, performance analysis, strategic planning, and data-driven decision-making.
The successful candidate will support business analysis initiatives and work with experienced professionals on practical projects. The role provides an opportunity to understand how organisations use data to improve performance, identify opportunities, and support strategic and operational decisions.
Role Overview
The Business Analytics Intern will assist with analysing business performance, monitoring KPIs, preparing reports, developing dashboards, supporting forecasting activities, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
The ideal candidate should have a foundation in Excel, SQL, business analysis, and data interpretation, together with strong critical thinking and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyse business information from multiple sources.
- Prepare and validate datasets for reporting and decision-making.
- Identify trends, performance gaps, opportunities, and potential business risks.
- Monitor KPIs and operational measures across business functions.
- Assist with dashboards, management reports, scorecards, and presentations.
- Use Excel to conduct calculations, comparisons, trend analysis, and performance reviews.
- Develop SQL queries for business reporting and data analysis.
- Support forecasting, planning, budgeting, and performance measurement activities.
- Review historical performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with process analysis and operational improvement initiatives.
- Convert analytical findings into practical recommendations.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements.
- Prepare summaries and presentations for stakeholders.
- Support recurring and ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Conduct data quality checks on business reports and dashboards.
- Assist with customer, market, sales, product, financial, and operational analysis.
- Participate in business reviews, project meetings, and analytical discussions.
- Research developments in business intelligence and analytics.

Required Qualifications
- Currently studying towards or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Business Analytics
- Business Administration
- Data Analytics
- Economics
- Statistics
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Engineering
- or a related field.
- Basic understanding of business analytics and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet applications.
- Basic knowledge of SQL.
- Understanding of data analysis and visualisation.
- Familiarity with KPIs and performance measurement.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret quantitative information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Interest in developing business intelligence and analytical skills.

- University, personal, research, freelance, or portfolio-based business analytics projects.
- Experience working with business or public datasets.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating dashboards, reports, or scorecards.
- Knowledge of Excel PivotTables, lookup functions, formulas, and charts.
- Experience using SQL for reporting and business analysis.
- Basic understanding of forecasting and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with financial, customer, sales, marketing, product, or operational analytics.
- Strong data storytelling and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exposure to process improvement or operational analysis.
- Interest in business strategy and performance management.
