The Team

The Business Architecture & Integration (BA&I) team, part of the Portfolio & Governance Office reporting to our CIO, is at the forefront of shaping and delivering transformative strategies that power Springer Nature's success. We are a dynamic group of forward-thinkers, strategists, and analysts who collaborate across the organisation to unlock opportunities, optimise processes, and drive meaningful change.

As a key player in enterprise-level transformation, we bridge the gap between business aspirations and technology solutions. Our team defines and executes global business architecture strategies, partners with stakeholders to discover customer-centric solutions and ensures seamless integration of acquired organisations into our ecosystem. About The Job

Job summary

As a Business Architect, you will work at the enterprise level across the entire Technology organisation, aligning business aspirations with technology execution. Reporting to the Director of Business Architecture & Integration, you will drive immediate strategic initiatives while helping to mature and shape the long-term business architecture practice.

You will collaborate closely with senior business and technology leaders to proactively and holistically help and guide the enterprise through transformation and optimisation initiatives, supporting the formulation of business strategy, outcomes and capabilities - shaping operating models, supporting investment decisions, and creating clear, actionable views of the business to enable transformation. The environment is fast-paced, evolving, and full of opportunity - and you will need to thrive in ambiguity, navigate complex hierarchies, and influence without authority. The core objectives of the Business Architecture team are to help the organisation achieve targeted business outcomes related to growing revenue, optimising costs, and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Support business strategy formulation by identifying opportunities and disruptive forces that impact Springer Nature.
  • Design and communicate clear business and operating models that enable strategic execution
  • Identify and guide people, processes, and technology requirements to operationalise the operating models
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to design and maintain business architecture models that align strategic goals with revenue growth, cost optimisation and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Clarify strategic intentions, identify business outcomes, explore implications, impacts, and risks for our key strategic and transformation initiatives
  • Analyse business capabilities, processes, and organisational structures to identify opportunities for transformation and improved performance across functions
  • Support the planning and execution of strategic initiatives by translating business strategies into actionable architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and investment priorities.
  • Guide and support prioritisation of initiatives, investments, and capability evolution
  • Support organisational change by helping stakeholders understand strategic goals, impacts, and transformation pathways.
  • Facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams, driving shared understanding and customer-centric design.
  • Act as an ambassador for business architecture best practices within the organisation.
  • Help evolve the BA&I team's role and contribution to broader Portfolio & Governance goals
  • Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to support the evolution of the Architecture services and align on Architecture strategy

About You

Your Experience:

  • Degree in business, technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in business architecture, strategy formulation, business analysis, and enterprise-level transformation.
  • Familiarity with business architecture frameworks (e.g., BIZBOK, TOGAF) and modelling techniques.
  • Ability to translate business vision into clear operating models, strategic roadmaps, and capability requirements.
  • Understanding of technology concepts sufficient to hold informed discussions, without needing deep technical expertise.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across different organisational levels, especially influencing without formal authority.
  • Curiosity, resilience, collaboration, and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Exposure to strategic initiatives such as M&A, large-scale change programmes, or technology modernisation.
  • Experience working within a matrixed and/or global organisation.
  • Experience working in high-ambiguity environments with multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and resolving conflicts with stakeholders.
  • You advocate for our customers and contribute to fostering a customer-focused mindset within the business analysis team
