Business Assurance Analyst
Salary: £28k - £35k + bonus
Location: Head Office, Lytham St Annes (Hybrid working pattern)
Introduction
Evolve Energy is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for a Business Assurance Analyst to help ensure our operations, processes and controls remain effective, compliant, and aligned with our business goals. This role will play an important part in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen operational resilience, and support decision-making across the business.
Role Purpose
The Business Assurance Analyst will monitor, audit, and improve the end-to-end meter-to-cash process. The role will analyse and reconcile commodity and non-commodity costs across the supply delivery chain, identifying discrepancies, reducing revenue leakage, and ensuring costs and income are accurately accounted for. By developing robust assurance controls and identifying opportunities for data automation, the Business Assurance Analyst will provide clear commercial insight and support more informed decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review the additional costs involved in supplying electricity, explain who charges them and why, and produce clear charts and financial summaries
- Check the charges applied in each electricity network area to make sure Evolve Energy has been billed correctly
- Compare the charges received with the electricity volumes recorded at the first and final stages of the industry’s billing and reconciliation process
- Check charges caused by differences between the amount of electricity expected and the amount used, and develop ways to report and forecast them
- Check industry charges for accuracy and maintain an up-to-date view of the related costs and income
- Monitor costs linked to the energy regulator, Ofgem, and report how the income collected compares with those costs over time
- Check a range of charges for accuracy and raise any errors or unexpected differences with the appropriate people
- Check older charges and charges for collecting meter data, separating costs according to whether the customer or Evolve Energy appointed the service provider
- Review five-year forecasts for the additional costs of supplying electricity, using information from several sources and modelling lower, expected and higher-cost scenarios
- Identify ways to improve systems and automate tasks so these additional costs can be checked and compared more efficiently
- Create and monitor key performance measures for the additional costs included in customer prices, using the company’s internal data and reporting tools
- Prepare accurate forecasts for the future cost of buying electricity and the additional costs of supplying it, highlighting the main risks and changes
- Support projects across the business and provide analysis when needed

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
