Role Specification
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Business Central Consultant to join Akita and help our customers make the most of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
This is a customer-focused consulting role combining business analysis, functional consultancy, solution design, implementation, and ongoing support. You will work with customers to understand their requirements, improve their business processes, and deliver practical Business Central solutions that create measurable value.
You will work closely with customers, project managers, developers, and the wider consulting team throughout the implementation lifecycle. This will include discovery, requirements gathering, configuration, testing, training, go-live, and post-implementation support.
While strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is important, this role is about more than system configuration. We are looking for someone who can understand how businesses operate, communicate clearly with different audiences, challenge requirements constructively, and translate business needs into effective solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
Understanding Customer Requirements
You will work with customers to understand their objectives, processes, and challenges, including:
- Running discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements-gathering meetings.
- Building a clear understanding of customer processes, systems, and desired outcomes.
- Documenting business requirements, process flows, and functional specifications.
- Identifying inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Challenging requirements where appropriate and recommending practical alternatives.
- Translating business needs into clear and achievable Business Central solutions.
- Ensuring customer expectations, project scope, and proposed solutions remain aligned.
Business Central Implementation and Configuration
You will support the design and delivery of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions by:
- Configuring Business Central to meet agreed functional and operational requirements.
- Working across relevant Business Central modules, such as finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, and warehousing.
- Designing solutions that reflect customer processes while following Microsoft best practice.
- Supporting data migration, data cleansing, and data validation activities.
- Working with developers and technical specialists where extensions, integrations, or customizations are required.
- Maintaining accurate configuration records and functional documentation.
- Identifying dependencies, assumptions, and risks within the proposed solution.

- Work collaboratively with project managers, developers, testers, and other consultants.
- Contribute to project plans, estimates, milestones, and delivery documentation.
- Manage assigned tasks and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly.
- Support the delivery of solutions within agreed scope, timescales, and budgets.
- Participate in solution reviews and project meetings.
- Help manage changes to requirements and assess their impact on delivery.
- Escalate issues promptly and contribute to effective resolution.
Testing, Training, and Go-Live
You will help customers prepare for and adopt their new Business Central solution by:
- Preparing functional test scenarios, scripts, and supporting documentation.
- Supporting system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Investigating defects and working with the delivery team to resolve them.
- Supporting customers with user acceptance and readiness activities.
- Delivering clear and engaging user training.
- Creating user guides, process documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Supporting cutover, go-live, and early-life support activities.
- Helping customers adopt new processes and use Business Central effectively.
Customer Support and Continuous Improvement
You will help customers gain long-term value from Business Central by:
- Providing functional advice and support after implementation.
- Investigating reported issues and identifying appropriate solutions.
- Managing support requests professionally and within agreed service standards.
- Identifying recurring issues and recommending improvements.
- Supporting change requests, enhancements, and future phases of customer projects.
- Keeping customers informed of progress, decisions, and expected outcomes.
- Maintaining strong, trusted, and professional customer relationships.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central knowledge with excellent consulting and communication skills.
You should have:
- Commercial experience working as a Business Central Consultant, Functional Consultant, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, or supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Good knowledge of core Business Central functionality and business processes.
- Experience gathering requirements and producing functional documentation.
- Experience supporting testing, training, data migration, or go-live activities.
- An understanding of finance and operational processes within a business environment.
- Experience working with developers on extensions, integrations, or technical changes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Technical and Functional Involvement
Although the primary focus of the role is functional consultancy, you will need to understand how Business Central solutions operate across the wider Microsoft technology landscape.
You may be required to:
- Configure and demonstrate Business Central functionality.
- Review and document integrations with third-party systems.
- Support data migration and reconciliation activities.
- Work with developers on extensions, reports, and technical changes.
- Investigate functional issues and support root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to solution architecture and implementation decisions.
- Support customers in making effective use of Microsoft 365 and related business applications where appropriate.
