Business Central Developer – Contract
Remote | £400 per day | Outside IR35 | Initial 6-month contract
We’re looking for an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer to support the ongoing development, enhancement and maintenance of a key ERP platform. Working closely with the ERP Technical Lead, you’ll deliver reliable and maintainable Business Central extensions and integrations. The role will combine project-based development with BAU support, troubleshooting and improvements to CI/CD processes.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain AL extensions for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Deliver new functionality and enhancements in line with business and project requirements.
- Translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Support business processes across finance, operations, sales, purchasing, inventory, reporting and customer workflows.
- Build and maintain integrations between Business Central and external platforms, internal services and operational tools.
- Use APIs and web services to enable secure and reliable data exchange.
- Work closely with the ERP Technical Lead on solution design and implementation.
- Participate in code reviews and follow agreed development standards.
- Take ownership of delivery from requirements gathering through to development, testing and release.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests where appropriate.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting Business Central customisations and integrations.
- Diagnose production issues and implement effective fixes.
- Identify performance or concurrency bottlenecks and deliver improvements.
- Produce clear documentation covering extensions, integrations and technical decisions.

- Strong commercial experience developing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions.
- Solid knowledge of AL development, extensions and customisations.
- Experience building integrations using APIs and web services.
- Experience supporting live Business Central environments and resolving production issues.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices and controlled software releases.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of end-to-end delivery.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working with technical leads and cross-functional teams.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.
