Are you a proactive, hands-on professional who thrives on making operations run like clockwork?
At Willowbrook Hospice we believe “Every Contact Counts”, we are seeking an independent Operations and Compliance Manager for an immediate 6-month contract. This is an individual contributor role with no direct team. Working directly alongside our Senior Leadership and Executive Team, you will be the sole driver managing our operational change, compliance frameworks, and supplier governance.
If you are a self-starter who loves handling the details yourself to build resilient, high-performing processes, this project is for you.
What You Will Do
- Deliver Change: Create and execute your own transition plans, map workflows, and host workshops defining functional requirements for new digital systems and operational services.
- Govern Suppliers: Act as our lead on contract renewals, host performance reviews, track KPIs/SLAs, and manage complex third-party escalations.
- Coordinate Tenders: Roll up your sleeves to develop RFPs (Requests for Proposals), evaluate vendors, and manage outsourcing transitions from start to finish.
- Own Risk & Compliance: Maintain our risk registers, execute internal operational audits, and enforce strict compliance regarding data protection (GDPR) and policy alignments.
- Build Relationships: Work collaboratively with SLT, budget holders, and clinical staff to build internal readiness and keep projects moving forward.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
