Intro

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Continuity & Resilience Specialist to join our IT Security and Governance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

This isn’t a traditional business continuity role. You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team helping to shape and strengthen organisational resilience across Railpen. You'll gain exposure to business continuity, operational resilience, supplier resilience, crisis preparedness, regulatory compliance and major change initiatives, working with stakeholders across the business to help ensure Railpen can anticipate, respond to and recover from disruption.

Who we are

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £36 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As part of our Business Continuity & Resilience team, you'll help develop and continually improve the capabilities that protect our members, colleagues, services and reputation.

You'll gain exposure to a broad range of resilience activities, from business continuity and operational resilience to crisis preparedness, supplier resilience and risk management.

Working closely with colleagues across the business, you'll provide practical guidance, constructive challenge and support to help strengthen resilience maturity and improve decision-making during periods of change and disruption.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The person

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and understands that resilience is about people, services and outcomes rather than simply creating plans. You'll be naturally curious, collaborative and analytical.

You'll be comfortable managing multiple priorities, engaging with stakeholders at all levels and helping the organisation better understand risk, dependencies and resilience.

You’ll bring experience in some or all of the following:

  • Business Continuity (ISO 22301)
  • Operational Resilience
  • Risk Management
  • Crisis Management / Incident Management
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Service Resilience

Most importantly, you'll bring a positive and pragmatic mindset, alongside a willingness to learn, develop and continually improve.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
