Business Controller

DP World are currently recruiting for a Business Controller to join our Finance & Controlling team, based at our Minworth site. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic operational environment. The Business Controller will be responsible for financial controlling activities for the site, providing insightful financial support, performance analysis, and commercial guidance. Working closely with operational, commercial, and customer teams, this role will help drive financial performance, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and support key business objectives.

How you will contribute

  • Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, statutory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial performance analysis, including P&L and balance sheet reviews, clearly explaining key variances, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, incorporating business metrics, volume assumptions, and profitability targets.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting and performance dashboards, providing actionable insights to support operational decision-making.
  • Work closely with Plant Management, Operations, Engineering, Account Management, and Business Development teams to support financial performance and business decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted finance partner to support account management, contract negotiations, and long-term business growth.
  • Prepare and deliver customer budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment between contractual commitments, operational requirements, customer expectations, and financial objectives.
  • Own customer invoicing and revenue reporting, ensuring billing accuracy and maintaining financial integrity across assigned accounts.
  • Coordinate weekly customer performance reviews and maintain commercial trackers, ensuring all chargeable activities are accurately captured and reported.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and customer contracts, providing analysis to support new business, contract renewals, and operational changes.
  • Support customer contract renewals by providing financial analysis for pricing reviews and commercial discussions.
  • Support capital investment decisions by tracking project expenditure and maintaining capital expenditure budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis to Procurement and Operations on supplier cost increases and contract renewals.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support the timely resolution of invoicing and payment issues.
  • Partner with Business Unit and Plant Leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Collaborate with other Business Controllers to ensure consistent processes, reporting standards, financial controls, and best practice across sites.
  • Contribute to wider Finance projects and ad-hoc activities as required.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World, demonstrating our values, principles, and culture while maintaining high standards of safety, integrity, and ethical conduct.

What you will bring

  • Fully or partly qualified CIMA/ACCA, or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operationally focused finance role.
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and controlling skills.
  • Experience using SAP and EBPCS is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of IFRS and local GAAP reporting requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience within a logistics or supply chain environment is beneficial.
  • Customer-facing experience with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and confidently to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to managing financial information and processes.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver against deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across operational, commercial, finance, and wider business teams.
  • A proactive, results-focused approach with a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential company information with discretion.
