Business Controller – Finance Team (UK Entities)

At Bunge, we are committed to creating sustainable value across the global food, feed, and fuel supply chain. We are seeking a highly motivated Business Controller to join our Finance team in Thame and drive accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting for our UK entities.
This role will see you coordinate the US GAAP reporting process, ensuring consistently accurate, compliant, and timely financial statements while collaborating closely with upstream teams to enhance reporting quality, alignment, and continuous improvement.
Please note: This is an on-site role based in our Thame office, Oxfordshire.
Main Accountabilities
1. Monthly Reporting
- Own UK country financial statements, including management information accounting, asset reporting, and variance analysis.
- Deeply understand and control reported figures across Balance Sheet, P&L, and financial statements, including reporting by Value Chain (VC).
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process for the UK business.
- Ensure process alignment across the region with robust controls to deliver accurate and timely financial information.
2. US GAAP Compliance
- Oversee compliance of UK financial statements with US GAAP requirements.
- Verify accuracy of all monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting packages, including SEC and SFAS schedules.
- Escalate technical US GAAP concerns covering revenue recognition, leases, tolling arrangements, and critical balance sheet items as needed.
3. Mark-to-Market (MTM) Ownership
- Assume controlling responsibilities for MTM activities, including market pricing, valuation calculations, and journal postings.
- Develop insight into pricing components, challenge questionable sources, and flag potential issues.
- Conduct month-end MTM reviews to ensure accurate fair-value compliance.
- Investigate and resolve MTM discrepancies or unusual value fluctuations.
- Track overdue contracts, contract anomalies, and MTM reconciliation issues.
- Actively contribute to balance sheet and results review meetings with insights and ad-hoc problem-solving.

4. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor accounting and reporting KPIs and drive OneStream, SAP, and manual process improvements.
- Foster strong collaboration with finance and business teams.
- Partner with stakeholders to gather and support reporting needs.
- Participate in meetings to share best practices, performance improvements, and operational challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement operational efficiencies.
5. Upstream Processes
- Own end-to-end reporting processes, working closely with trade, execution, and finance teams for operational alignment.
- Advocate for continuous improvement and process simplification.
- Explore opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Implement systemic and procedural enhancements to improve efficiency, control, and reporting accuracy.
6. SOX and Internal Controls
- Ensure design and effectiveness of internal controls for financial reporting under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
- Perform defined SOX controls outlined in the accounting control matrix (KC matrix).
- Assist with reconciliations, process walkthroughs, control testing, and ongoing SOX compliance development and implementation.
7. Local GAAP and Additional Responsibilities
- Support preparation of timely, accurate statutory accounts and associated financial reporting.
- Prepare local GAAP/IFRS adjustments as required.
- Aide internal and external audits for efficient and successful completion.
- Contribute to IT and business improvement projects, including new system implementations, system enhancements, and process development.
- Collaborate with Tax and other departments on financial matters and provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Requirements & Skills
Core Experience & Qualifications
- Proven expertise in controlling, US GAAP, and SEC financial reporting, ideally with experience within a U.S. multinational.
- Relevant accounting knowledge or progression towards a qualified status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in cross-functional environments and develop stakeholder relationships.

Technical Proficiencies
- Detailed working knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS, and Sox compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office suite, with experience in OneStream or HFM applications being a bonus.

- Ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities and perform effectively in fast-paced, results-driven settings.
