We’re looking for an experienced Data Business Analyst to join a major global data transformation programme, helping shape data initiatives from the very beginning and turning business requirements into clear, validated specifications for engineering teams.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit an established backlog.

You’ll be working at the outset of new data initiatives, running discovery with business stakeholders, working closely with Data Stewards and helping establish the definitions, processes and governance engineering teams will build against.

You’ll sit within an Agile delivery pod alongside Data Engineering, QA and reporting teams, supporting work from initial discovery through development, validation and business sign-off.

What you’ll be doing

  • Running discovery sessions with stakeholders to understand business and data requirements.
  • Turning high-level requirements into clear, testable specifications for engineering teams.
  • Working closely with Data Stewards around data ownership, definitions, governance and sign-off.
  • Defining and documenting business rules, metrics, KPIs and acceptance criteria.
  • Documenting data lineage and source-to-target mappings.
  • Establishing structured documentation and approval processes so engineers can build against validated requirements.
  • Working closely with engineers throughout two-week sprint cycles, clarifying requirements and resolving ambiguity.
  • Using SQL and Snowflake to interrogate, profile and validate data.
  • Supporting testing, UAT and final stakeholder sign-off.
  • Helping create reusable documentation such as metric dictionaries, business glossaries and governance artefacts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong experience as a Data Business Analyst within data, analytics or cloud transformation programmes.
  • Evidence of joining projects at discovery / inception stage, rather than only supporting established programmes.
  • Experience taking ambiguous requirements and creating a structured approach from a standing start.
  • Strong experience working alongside Data Engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake.
  • Good working SQL skills.
  • Experience with data governance, Data Stewards, lineage, data definitions and sign-off processes.
  • Strong requirements gathering, user story and acceptance criteria experience.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams using Jira and Confluence.
  • Confidence working directly with senior business stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience with dbt.
  • Retail, food, hospitality or other multi-site business experience.
  • Experience working with operational and financial data such as sales, labour, waste, gross profit or cost of goods.
  • Experience migrating from legacy reporting environments onto modern cloud data platforms.
  • Power BI exposure.

What will make someone stand out

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate quantifiable change.

Perhaps you joined a transformation during discovery, helped establish the requirements and governance approach, defined how data would be signed off, mapped business requirements into engineering delivery and then stayed with the project through build and validation.

If you’ve helped take a data initiative from a standing start into structured delivery, we’d like to hear from you.
