Job Title: Business Data Analyst (Migrations)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow or Alderley Park (Wilmslow)

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Data Analyst to join our Group Data and AI Office (GDAIO) Team at Royal London. This role is suited to candidates who have practical experience working with data, requirements and business stakeholders, and who are looking to develop their career within a supportive data change environment. You will bring strong analytical thinking, curiosity, attention to detail and a collaborative approach to helping teams understand and use data effectively.

The Business Data Analyst will support the delivery of high-quality analysis across data change initiatives. You will help collect, map, analyse and document information and requirements, working with source system SMEs, business teams and data colleagues to understand data structures, data dictionaries and source-to-target mappings. The role will involve supporting value-chain mapping of data, interpreting relevant performance and financial information, and helping create reusable documentation artefacts that support delivery by engineering and project teams.

Working closely with Data Engineering teams, Business SMEs and project colleagues, the Business Data Analyst will analyse data systems, translate findings into clear requirements and support project teams through discovery, impact assessment, data sourcing, migration and delivery activity. This is a hands-on analysis role where you will be encouraged to build your knowledge of Royal London’s data landscape, contribute to good analytical practice and develop confidence in working across both business and technical teams.

About the role:

  • Provide analysis on a range of data and business change topics, helping teams make well-evidenced decisions
  • Support source-to-target data mapping, data optimisation, sequencing and phasing of data sourcing to the Enterprise Data Model
  • Work with business and technical colleagues to understand data structures, data dictionaries, requirements and mappings
  • Evaluate business processes and help identify opportunities for improvement using data and insight
  • Document requirements, source-to-target mappings, business data dictionaries and technical data dictionaries to support delivery teams
  • Communicate analysis findings clearly to project teams, business SMEs and management, adapting your approach for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support data quality assessments, impact assessments, migrations and improvement initiatives, helping teams understand data impacts, risks and dependencies
  • Perform user acceptance testing and support the monitoring of deliverables to help ensure timely completion of project activity
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and effective governance across analysis activities
  • Reflect Royal London values through positive behaviours, collaboration and taking ownership of your own development

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
