Hey 👋

I'm working with a client going through a large-scale digital transformation who needs an experienced Data Business Analyst to join their data team and help bridge the gap between the business, D365 and their new reporting capability.

The business is implementing Dynamics 365 F&O alongside a new cloud data platform, with D365 data ultimately feeding a new reporting and Power BI environment.

Your job is to understand what the business actually needs from its data, map those requirements back to D365 F&O and the underlying data model, and make sure the technical teams have requirements they can actually build against.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with business SMEs to understand data and reporting requirements
  • Mapping requirements back to D365 F&O source data
  • Translating business needs into clear requirements for BI and data teams
  • Running workshops and challenging requirements where things don't quite stack up
  • Identifying gaps around data availability, quality and ownership
  • Supporting Power BI reporting requirements and UAT
  • Acting as the translator between business stakeholders and technical data teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Power BI exposure would be very useful, while experience with Databricks, Azure Synapse Link or similar modern data platforms would be a bonus rather than a deal breaker.

Most importantly, they're after someone who can get underneath a requirement rather than simply writing down whatever they're told.

This is an initial 6 month contract paying £550 per day outside IR35. It's a hybrid role with lots of flexibility to work remotely and only very occasional travel to site.
