Front Office Data Business Analyst
London | Contract | Hybrid
We are working with a major financial services firm looking to hire a Front Office Data Business Analyst into a large-scale transformation of its investment data platform.
The role sits directly between front-office investment teams and engineering, helping shape how investment data is sourced, structured, governed and consumed.
The role
- Partner with portfolio managers, investment analysts, quantitative teams and other front-office users to understand and challenge complex data requirements.
- Analyse data flows, sources and models and translate requirements into clear user stories, data mappings and technical specifications.
- Work closely with data engineers and architects throughout design and delivery.
- Help prioritise competing requirements across multiple investment teams and use cases.
- Investigate data issues and support improvements across data quality, ownership, lineage, metadata and business definitions.
- Help develop reusable, trusted data products rather than one-off solutions.
- Contribute to the firm's move towards self-service analytics, making investment data easier for front-office users to discover, understand and consume.

What we're looking for
- Strong Business Analysis experience within front-office investment or capital markets environments.
- Experience working directly with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, quantitative teams or other sophisticated financial-data consumers.
- Strong understanding of investment, market, security, instrument, position, transaction or portfolio data.
- Hands-on data analysis capability, ideally including SQL.
- Experience with modern data platforms and technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, BigQuery or similar cloud data environments.
- Experience working closely with data/software engineering teams.
- Strong requirements gathering, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Exposure to data modelling, data quality, lineage, metadata, semantic layers, data catalogues or governance would be advantageous.
- Python experience would also be beneficial.
