Role Summary

The Business Development & Account Manager is responsible for driving profitable and sustainable growth within an assigned territory, market segment, or product line. The role focuses on developing strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, managing strategic accounts, and executing commercial sales strategies aligned with company objectives. This position acts as a key interface between customers, internal sales teams, and business stakeholders to ensure long-term customer success, market growth, and commercial performance.

A key focus of this role is the UK & Ireland concrete sector, requiring strong industry knowledge across concrete formulations and applications, including ready-mix concrete, precast, dry mortar, infrastructure, flooring, and specialist construction applications. The successful candidate will bring technical and commercial understanding of concrete additives, mineral solutions, cementitious materials, and performance optimisation within the construction materials industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute territory and market segment sales plans to achieve revenue, growth, and profitability targets.
  • Develop and manage sales pipelines, including lead generation, opportunity tracking, and conversion activities.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, applications, and market segments in line with company sales and marketing strategies.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to support strategic business objectives.
  • Support pricing strategy development in collaboration with Sales Leadership, Product Management, and Business Development teams.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, account development plans, and commercial performance reports.
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support future product and service development.
  • Manage customer complaints and commercial issues to ensure effective resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Support key account activities in collaboration with Key Account Managers where applicable.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations in line with company objectives and guidelines.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to customers as required.
  • Share updates on customer activity, new business projects, and market developments with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior management on critical commercial decisions and growth strategies.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and customer relationship management skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or account management within a relevant industry sector.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably within a relevant technical, commercial, or industry-related discipline.
  • Additional language skills are advantageous.
  • Valid driving licence required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays and flexible working hours where required.
