A leading London law firm has instructed me to recruit a newly created Business Development & Alumni Manager to join its established Marketing & Business Development team.

On the BD side, you'll support a portfolio of smaller specialist practice areas, including areas such as Financial Services Regulatory, Employment and Competition. A particularly important part of the role is bringing those groups together: sharing ideas and successful approaches, spotting opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling, and ensuring they are connected into wider firm initiatives rather than operating independently.

Alongside this, you'll take ownership of developing the firm's alumni programme, building stronger relationships with former lawyers and business services professionals and developing its value as a source of relationships, introductions, referrals, advocacy and recruitment opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll work closely with partners, senior stakeholders and colleagues across the wider Marketing & Business Development function.

The ideal candidate will have around five years or more of business development experience, preferably gained within a law firm. Strong professional-services experience will also be considered.

Previous alumni experience would be useful but isn't essential. More important is strong core BD capability, confidence working with senior stakeholders and the ability to build relationships and create momentum across different groups.
